Who we are

Touchwood too is a family-run business operated by Ian and Sharon Hulf, based in the south-east of England. Touchwood too was established in 2007, but the design history of our plant supports goes all the way back to the 1970s when our first Plant Trainer was created by Ian. As passionate gardeners ourselves, all of our plant supports and plant trainers have been designed, developed and tested over and over again until we are completely satisfied! From our humble beginnings, our products are now being used and recommended by customers all over the country! In fact Touchwood too is now shipping internationally, having recently delivered a supply of our Orchid & Plant supports to Canada. Ian Hulf in 1970s

What we do

Ian first designed the Plant Trainer in the 1970s, and since then has been refining the design, and developing new products to aid enthusiastic gardeners. Testing of products is an ongoing process, with every plant support tried in our coastal wind-battered garden, our patio, and on our indoor pots, reviewed and improved until we are completely happy with their performance.

Plant trainers that work

All Touchwood too's unique and innovative products have either EU Design Protection or Patent Applications pending. The centre stems of all our plant trainers and plant supports, and the Touchwood too cane, are made here in the UK, from a specific mix of polypropylene - creating a unique product that is both rigid and flexible. We are proud to know that all of our products are tough and durable, rot and rust-proof, reusable and recyclable! The self-assembly kits are quick and easy to assemble, have the advantage of being easy to dismantle for storage when not in use, and can be reused over and over again. All plant supports and plant trainers come with clear instructions which can be downloaded as a pdf, or take a look at our online video instructions anytime.

Plant supports that look great

Our unusual swirl shaped cane (often referred to as the "Ace" shaped top) is our unique trademark design, featuring in most of our orchid supports and plant trainers. We love the touch of elegance that it adds to the display and support of pot plants, orchids and climbing plants.

Our plant trainers and supports are open to your own imagination and creativity - they can be used as shaping for topiary, or even silk flower arranging. Or how about embellishing a trainer with craft accessories or jewellery for use as home decorations or even alternative Christmas or Easter decorations! Please feel free to browse our beautiful gallery to see examples of our plant trainers and orchid supports in action, and to get more ideas for their exciting uses.

Trainers and support for any plant

Our Plant Basket Trainer is ideal for plants such as Ivy, Black Eyed Susan, Nasturtium, Fuchsia, Trailing Lobelia and many other climbing pot plants. Our classic Plant Trainer can be used for most pot-grown plants and climbers, including Ivy, Clematis, Jasmine, Sweet Peas, Bougainvillea, Grape Ivy etc. Our best-selling Orchid Support can also be used for other plants, including Amaryllis, Madagascar Jasmine, Fuchsia and many others. Following the resounding success of our Orchid and Plant Support, Touchwood too became full members of The Orchid Society of Great Britain. All of our original products were designed for use of potted plants, but our new Round-all Plant Trainer and Downpipe Plant Trainer can both be used on most garden plants.

Our community and charity interests

As well as gardening and developing our plant supports range, we take an active interest in supporting our local community and charity initiatives. Please take a look at our Community and News pages for updates on the projects we are currently involved with. We are proud to be supporting Inspirational Flights, a charity that allows us to sponsor children from less fortunate backgrounds to have a free flight in a single engine plane.
